£2.2m Stevenage Skills Centre to train the engineers of the future

On Tuesday 23rd September 2008, Mark Haysom, Chief Executive of the Learning and Skills Council, officially opened North Hertfordshire College’s brand new vocational training facility, based in the heart of Stevenage.

The Stevenage Skills Centre in Fulton Close, opened in partnership with Hertfordshire Investing in Communities, is the first of its kind in the area and will provide construction, technology and engineering training in a purpose-built facility.

The Skills Centre will offer courses in motor vehicle and a wide range of construction trades including plastering and brickwork.

The new centre offers a wide range of full and part-time courses, including Apprenticeships and new Diplomas, in construction and engineering, and will also teach an exciting new full-time aeronautical engineering course, to run in partnership with Ryanair.
